There are problems with w20-575-31 (VS2000):
********************************************
near the middle/end of reboot this error message occurs:
Unable to initialize network.
with the usual "contact Athena Ops" message.
There are also problems with w20-575-32 (VS2000):
*************************************************
I noticed that during reboot the workstation mentions that it is still
in the middle of an update, yet it continues to reboot. There is this
error message while it tries to set up the network:
Setting up network: sd0a: hard error sn 919
sd0: Forced Error Modifier set LBN 919
sd0a: hard error sn 919
sd0: Forced Error Modifier set LBN 919
sd0a: hard error sn 919
sd0: Forced Error Modifier set LBN 919
Whereupon it continues. More problems later on, though. It apparently
can't start up X, because after finishing rebooting, the login message
comes up on console:
Project Athena (W20-0575-32.MIT.EDU:console, 11:07pm on Thurs, 21 June 1990)
login:
You cannot login as anyone, not even root. It waits a few seconds, does
not prompt you for your password, then redisplays the same message with
only the time updated.
Also, there are problems with w20-575-100 (Vax3100):
****************************************************
It reboots cleanly, but always leaves you in single-user mode.
/etc/reboot puts you back in single-user mode after rebooting. ^D
returns your prompt after a few seconds. Reboots don't change anything,
and there are no file system problems.
I'll put signs on the machines.
