Were they secured (locked down) in any manner? Who has access to
the room, or did the thief break into the room? We've been worried
about just such a thing happening to us, and have worked on devising
ways to anchor our SCSI peripherals to tables and the like.

As it turns out, I am helping somebody hook up a SCSI disk to a
Mac. However I've known the guy for years, he has strong ethical
principles, and he started working on his drive well before Sunday...

Can you furnish the model numbers and serial numbers? The more
people who are aware of the "hot" equipment, the more likely it is the
stuff will be noticed if it's still in the neighborhood.
Although I'm sure your main intent is just to recover the stolen
equipment, I think it would help everybody on this list if you told us
a little more information. We may not enjoy hearing the gory details,
but I don't know of any other way for us sysadmins to learn about
theft incidents (other than getting hit ourselves 8^(. By sharing this
information, we're all more likely to be prepared. The only chance we
have of catching the thief is to be aware of what's happening on
campus. Also, if there's any identifiable pattern to the thefts,
somebody may be able to correlate the clues.
Best of luck in recovering your equipment!
