First the good news...

'atlas' had the old Exabyte controller removed by DEC today (it took
about 5 min), and was updated to 7.3P. It was out of service from about
9am until about 11am.

Now for the other news...
Summary: 'cyrus' was out of service today from about 9am until about 3pm,
and it still isn't fixed.

The details:
This morning, 'cyrus' was scheduled for DEC maintenance on its disk 1
(an RA82, which was recently logging lots of hard errors). DEC showed
up on time, and ran diags all morning. They suspected the controller
but by around noon they suspected that in fact the problem is with
the HDA, which they want to replace. Since they didn't have an HDA
with them, we (Brian and I) decided to bring cyrus back up without
its disk 1. So, the system was out of service from about 9am until
about 3pm.

How things were left:
'cyrus' has its disk 1 offline, and is running without disk 1 (so
there won;t be any incremental dumps on cyrus tonight). DEC has to
come back, and install the new HDA. We'll then need to get the disk
back in service as soon as possible.

What to do on Friday:
Call DEC and see about getting this fixed ASAP. Also, let them know
we have 2 other servers that have been having similar problems (artemis
and talos), so they can have the parts ready and we can minimize
downtime.
