Hi Dot,
This is the follow up mail, regarding our phone conversation, consisting
of the events that took place this evening in 1-115.
Jerry Burke had asked me to check out 3 problems at this 1-115 location:
Problem #1. The M1-115-23 workstation was reported dead.
Problem #2. One more chair was needed for this room.
Problem #3. The room was very Hot.
Problem #1 is now corrected. The workstation was unbootable because the
bootpath needed to be set. I have taken care of this. M1-115-23 is now up
and running.
Problem #2 is still outstanding. This facility is minus one chair and is
still outstanding.
Problem #3 was a major problem at the time of my observation. The room
temperature was approx. 90 degrees. I had notified Physical Plant, who
responded in about 20 minutes. There findings were as follows:
The 2 overhead ceiling units at the rear of the room were ACTIVATED for
STEAM. Physical Plant had secured the steam and activated the CHILLED
WATER on the left rear unit (if you are facing the rear windows).
The right rear unit's steam was also secured. However, it appears that
the CHILLED WATER LINE on this unit is not hooked up, and that a work
order to Physical Plant Controls would be needed to rectify this problem.
It was unclear, at the time, if the contractors for this room were
finished or not. In the meanwhile, Plant was trying to reach Bob Barlow
to find out the status. I have contacted Jerry Burke at home to see if he
knew who the key players were for this 1-115 room.
I was able to reach Dot and filled her in on some of these major
problems. Dot stated that she would contact Physical Plant Operations
and schedule a time with CONTROLS to restore the flow of chilled water
to the right rear overhead unit. The room is now down to 78 degress from
90 degrees. All the workstations are up and running.
*** Another safety point came to mind at this location, which was pointed out
to me by Dave Towle (DEC). The receptacles that are located on the floor
may become a hazard to a student in the summer time, who maybe bare
footed. Shocking results could take place. Just thought I would mention
this in case it was an oversight. ***
Physical Plant has just contacted me with the latest news on this caper.
It is as follows:
The contracting on this job has been completed by Drummey. This job has
not been completed successfully according to us and by Plant. P.P. will
not touch this job until Drummey has left things in PROPER WORKING ORDER.
He will be called in to remedy the situation, and to restore things to
proper working order. The scheduling of these events will be coordinated
by Dot, P.P. and Drummey.
In conclusion, all the appropriate people have now been notified, and
corrective action should be taken in the very near future.
THE END!
