I recently called in a service request relating to the 3.5" disk drive on
my VAXstation 3100; disks which are readable on RS6000's using dosdir encounter
'sd2:HARD ERROR: compare error' messages when reading is attempted using the
same command on my VAXstation. As a result of this, it was determined that DEC
should replace my hard disk, which was done, but I can detect no change in the
operation (or lack thereof) of my diskette drive. I still have the same errors
in accessing files from 3.5" disks. Could you please send someone out to look
at this again? Thankyou.
