I have an update on this:
In addition to the Dell, an iMac was also stolen. We're pretty sure
they were stolen, since they left the power cable for the iMac, and
the AC adapter for the Dell Harman-kardon speakers, and it looks like
they were taken in a hurry.
According to the router info, scar.mit.edu was last seen on the
network at 1:27AM on Sunday. That's arp cache info, so the machine
may have existed up to a few hours after 1:27AM, but it's likely the
theft happened early Sunday morning. (I gave all this info to the
CPs, just wanted to keep you guys updated)
I'm attempting to get more info from ops about when the last time the
machine was seen logging to the log host.
I just filed a report with the CPs. The report number is 03019142.
The officer who took the report was Thomas Komola, tkomola@mit.edu.
He'd like someone from hotline to contact him with the following info:
-Serial numbers for the Dell (and flat-panel display if we have that info)
-MIT tag numbers
-Value (I estimated it at $2,500, you can update that if necessary)
I included the iMac in the report, so when you give them the info,
just mention that it's for the Dell.
