I sent mail to hotline on 10/17 requesting a replacement
for the video card for frumious-bandersnatch in the ESG cluster
in 24-6. I do not believe it has been replaced (I did not
receive any confirmations, though the casetracker case seems
to be gone); howevever, since then the machine has gone from
cosmetic problems to instability. At this point, booting into
Linux Athena results in a screen where all spaces show up as single
quotes as it boots up; and then X fails to come up properly. Booting off
of a CD of the LNX-BBC distribution, we can get it to come up to
X, but if we put it in 1280x640 resolution, the bottom quarter
of the screen is garbage. I suspect that the problem is still in
the video card; can we have it replaced soon and see if it helps?
Thanks,
dave
