Please note that Vassar Street will be closed to through traffic for two to
three days at the end of next week to allow for paving in a final step of
Phase I for the Vassar Streetscape redesign. Following the completion of the
paving, the street will reopen to two-way traffic.
* Vassar Street will be closed to bicycle and vehicular
traffic from Main Street to Mass. Ave. on Wednesday, August 27 and Thursday,
August 28. If bad weather or construction delays occur, the street will also
close on Friday, August 29.
* On Wednesday, August 27, there should be no prohibitions on
entering or exiting the garage. Police will direct traffic exiting the Stata
garage to either Mass. Ave. or Main Street.
* On Thursday, and if necessary, on Friday, entrance to the
Stata garage will be available only until 11 a.m. Access into and out of the
garage will be prohibited from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. to allow paving from the
Stata Center to Mass. Ave. Cars will be allowed to exit the garage after 3
p.m. Police officers will be on hand to direct traffic as required.
* All vehicles traveling to the main group must use the
Building 9 entrance on Mass. Ave. Vehicles should enter on the east side of
Mass. Ave. to avoid crossing multiple lanes.
* Pedestrian traffic will be permitted using the pathways that
are currently available.
* Two-way traffic on Vassar Street will begin after Labor Day.
Please contact the MIT Parking Office if you have further questions
