There seems to be a problem with the chemical engineering server:

I cannot make backup tapes. I think the reason is that the mechanism
which detects whether or not the tape is write protected is broken, and
that any tape that I put in is identified as write protected. I get the
following message when I try to make a backup tape:
st0: write protected cartridge
DUMP: NEEDS ATTENTION: Cannot open tape. Do you
want to retry the open?: ("yes" or "no")
I get this message regardless of whether I set the tape to write protected
or not. Let me know if you can help me with this problem.
