Before we can look at restoring a deleted file from users, we need to
know the following information:
the entire path for the file: for example: /mit/user/athena_notes
We can't just look around for a file... we need to know
the full name of the file, in order to find it
approximately when the file was deleted: for example, "yesterday"
or "in early August"
approximately when the file was last known to be in a good state:
for example, "last week" or "in late July"
We need to know these things before we can handle a restore request from
a user. Before forwarding such requests to us, please make sure they contain
all this info. If you talk with the user, be sure to get this info. Even
after we have this info, it takes about 3hrs to look at a tape, and there
are no guarantees that the file will be there.
