Hey-
Umm, the report filed yesterday about the floppy/hard drive problems were not
taken care of by Digital's visit today (Friday). In fact, I cannot install
the system software on what should be busch.mit.edu, because the floppy
cannot read the software to customize the newly-usable hard drive!
Now Rita, between you and me, I know what I'm doing when it comes to setup,
troubleshooting, and configuration of our Athena systems. I know things have
changed recently, but your and my competence has not. I'm not particularly
asking for special treatment by you or anyone, but please repect the fact
that I have been cluster manager for over two years and I was an Athena User
Consultant for over a year. I think it strange to find, when DEC FEC arrive
here, all of my hardware reports are not filed. In fact, I have filed this
particular floppy drive problem three different times, according to my
archives. Please attend to the problem soon. We are now without 20% of our
Athenas due to this situation and the 3-time "oversight" of this problem.
Hey! O.K. I'm not really that weird about this. Please, though, file the
floppy report ASAP. We would just really like to have Athena as close to
100% functional as close to 100% of the time, especially that we now have
only one-fourth the workstations we had last year... :)
Thank you in advance for any help you can give,

P.S. The "network difficulty" mentioned about by one of my brothers was
related to the tdc-vssys srvd pack change. It seems that I was
configuring to the old srvd pack, typhon:vssys, whereas our pack is
now tantalos:vssys. Just a note...
