Athena Version 7.3N for the DECstation 3100 will be available for
testing starting around noon on Friday Sept 20. This test will affect
only those DECstation 3100s that get their system software via AFS
from the 'rel-eng' cell. To find out if a particular workstation is
affected, use the 'hesinfo' command to find whether the workstation's
'syslib' cluster information points to the 'rel-eng' cell. Here is an
example, showing a workstation that will be affected by the test:
athena% hesinfo `hostname` cluster
lpr nil
syslib e40test-sys
zephyr arilinn
zcluster zephyr-test
athena% hesinfo e40test-sys filsys
AFS /afs/rel-eng.athena.mit.edu/system/@sys/srvd n /srvd
DECstation 3100s that get their system software via AFS from the
rel-eng cell, and that have AUTOUPDATE=true in rc.conf, should
automatically update to Athena 7.3N throughout the afternoon and
weekend as they reactivate when noone is logged in.
Sometime next week, if the testing shows no problems, 7.3N will be
made available for all other DECstations.
