I am writing to let you know, if you are not aware of it already, that
pal28.mit.edu has been extremely unreliable the past couple of days.
It appears as though access to an NFS server frequently times out,
thus preventing useful work from being accomplished on the machine
(pal28). I have not seen notices for scheduled server downtime, so
presumably that is not the problem.
Would appreciate your prompt efforts to locate the problem and restore
some sense of reliability to the athena environment here in bldg. 36
on which we have come to depend. Feel free to contact me if you have
