The below email was sent to Juan Vargas about a week ago, but I'm
assuming he might be away as I never received any response. Can
someone help us, please?
Thank you.
Prof. Vernon Ingram (Biology) is having problems of an unknown nature
with an Athena machine in his office, called cyberbio.mit.edu - we
believe this machine is on a service contract. The machine is a Sun
UltraSparc24, running Solaris Linux.
The problems have to do with a website he's hosting at the machine,
called the MIT Biology Hypertext, URL
http://esg-www.mit.edu:8001/esgbio/7001main.html. For some reason,
although the machine is accessing MITnet properly, the network is
unable to find the machine as a server. An error message is returned
by the browser, saying "The connection was refused when attempting to
contact esg-www.mit.edu:8001."
We are at a loss as to what might be the problem and what to do. You
may not be the correct person to ask, but could you send us in the
right direction, please?
Thank you!
Gurukarm
