Hi Folks,

A number of people who know that W91 is fed via the campus distribution
system were confused by the statements that it lost power. I thought
it might be useful to send this correction to everyone. W91 was *not*
impacted by yesterday's NSTAR outages.

Additionally, FYI, MIT's data center in W91 is protected by an uninterruptable
power supply (UPS) and the entire building is backed up with a generator.
If W91 does lose its utility power feed, the critical equipment and
related services in the data center should remain available and accessible
to all. The non-critical portions of W91 (office space, hallways, etc.)
only go dark for 10-15 seconds until the building's generator comes online.

The 3down web pages and recorded message were both updated with the correct
information regarding the computer rooms in both W91 & W92 -- neither
were impacted yesterday due to UPS protection used for both of these
critical data centers.

ps. Say something nice to your air conditioner this week... :)
