Last night I updated this machine to release 7.3. I had difficulty
bringing the machine up after the update, and could only get it to
boot by doing a power cycle first.
It's rather unusual that we have a hardware failure coincident with
updating. I'll try building and installing a new kernel...

ps: This machine had been running the 7.3 kernel for about a week now.
