The Ultra5 namur, in the "ISP" (now Terrascope) private
cluster in 16-168CA, can't complete a boot. It couldn't even
find its boot device at all until I powercycled, after which
the filesystem had lots of errors. The fsck went fine, and
at the end of the boot it gets stuck, saying
/etc/rc2.d/S70finish-update: installboot: not found
restore the boot device in the prom
cat: cannot open /etc/boot-device
and so on. Sounds like a bad disk or something.
You will probably need me to let you into the
room; I am just upstairs. Call or zwrite me
when you can come to do the repair work, so
I can let you into the room (though you may have
the right keys anyway). Thanks.
Oh, please also bring a new ethernet cable; the one for
bruges (in that same room) might be faulty: it's badly
kinked, and the machine doesn't seem to be getting net traffic.
