By all means, yes, you can go ahead and replace the hard drive in
THELONIOUS. (I have been careful not to keep anything irreplaceable on
it.)
You can have access to it whenever you like, whether I am around or not.
Just don't lose the little "monitee" on top of the monitor :-)
