With the distribution of the new Athena release, we must be mindful of
the following unpleasant fact of life:
The andrew locker and the Athena release are a MATCHED set.
As of this moment, the andrew locker is compatible with Athena 7.2.
Users who add or attach andrew but are sitting at 7.3 workstations will
complain of impossible to diagnose problems.
EZ will complain a lot, or maybe not at all.
EZ will coredump immediately, or perhaps run for a couple hours and core
dump without warning.
When the Athena 7.3 release has made it to all subnets, the andrew
locker will be converted over to being compatible with athena 7.3.
Until then, when that minority of users who actually use the advanced
Andrew features complain of problems, verify that it is due to version
skew and tell them to do this:
detach andrew
attach tandrew
rehash
When the changeover in compatibility is made, you will be notified, and
given instructions on how to help 7.2 users who will be getting hurt by
version skew.
