The Athena 7.3M Release will be made publicly available starting Thursday
August 29. The general plan for making the latest release available for
all platforms is:
	1) 7.3M will be made available for all VAXes and RTs which get
their system packs via RVD. This will be implemented one
	   subnet at a time.
	2) After 7.3M has been made available to all workstations that
get their system packs via RVD, 7.3M will be made available
to DECsystem 3100s and other workstations that get their
	   system "packs" via AFS.
When the 7.3M system packs become available, workstations that are not
active and that have the variable "autodupate=true" should automatically
update to 7.3M.

When a workstation is in the process of updating its software, it is not
usable for several minutes. When many workstations are updating at the same
time, the performance of other workstations may seem slow due to the increased
load on the network or the RVD servers.

Each day, we will send mail to hotline, cfyi, cluster-managers, isacs, dcns
and css, and we will put a global motd in place, announcing which subnets or
machine types will be affected that day. A sign will be posted on the
doors of public clusters, letting users know that delays may be expected.

This afternoon, the RVD servers on the 18.86 and the 18.63 subnets will
have 7.3M packs available. The public clusters in E51 and B66 will be
affected, as well as private VAXes and RTs (with autoupdate=true) on
those subnets.
