I am glad to see the Athena software reinstalled on the workstation Mustang.
I can also see that the system disk still has not been partitioned properly,
as the chart below shows:
mustang# chpt -q /dev/rrz3a
/dev/rrz3a
Current partition table:
partition bottom top size overlap
a 0 40159 40160 b,c,e,f,h
b 32768 131071 98304 a,c
c 0 237587 237588 a,b,d,e,f,g,h
d 140560 170679 30120 c,g
e 0 0 0 a,c,f,h
f 0 0 0 a,c,e,h
g 131072 204863 73792 c,d
h 0 0 0 a,c,e,f
You can see that the a (boot) and b (swap) partitions overlap. This is
definitely BAD and is almost certainly the cause of the workstation's
recent crash. The a partition should be reconfigured to have a size of
32768 (bottom = 0, top = 32767). Fixing this, to my knowledge, requires
booting the system off some other disk, because the root partition cannot
be changed while it is mounted, as it always is when the system boots off
that disk.
As requested, I will leave the system
alone for now, but eventually I will want to mount the extra swap space
and the local external hard disk. I am available virtually any time
this week, preferably in the afternoon. Please call me at 8-8786 and
let me know when you can come by.
Thanks for your help,
Tom Grayson

Hi Tom,
The system, 'mustang,' has been re-installed. Please DO NOT do anything
else to the machine without someone from Athena being there. We
would like to see how the disk is partitioned and are curious as
to why some of the system software appears to have been overwritten.
Please send mail to hotline@athena to schedule a time for us to
meet with you to complete the installation on 'mustang'.
Thank you,
Rita DiCecca (Athena Hardware Hotline)
