Hi,
As per our conversation earlier this evening, here is the information
on the file to be recovered. It is a very important file to us and virtually
impossible to recreate, so I hope you will be able to help us!
The problem was caused by a novice user who was assisting in updating
the file (using emacs) and mangled the file to the extent that over 50% of
the data was lost. The name of the file is "programs/members.info" and is in
the home directory of user "bdclub".
The current version of the file is dated "31 July" and is no good.
The emacs "~" version was dated "29 July" and is also no good. The file
was fine before 10 July, but I do not know when between the 10th and 29th it
was damaged.
Thus, the most recent version of this file that you can recover that
is EARLIER than 10 July 1991 is the best version of the file that will not be
mangled. Would you be able to recover the most recent version of
/mit/bdclub/programs/members.info dated 9 July 1991 or earlier?
