This Saturday, 10/13/2001, the W92 machine room will be shut
down from 6am to 9am for electrical work.
This is a major outage, affecting many Athena servers. Affected
services include AFS, the postoffice servers, web.mit.edu, Athena dialup
server, Moira, OLC, serveral licensed software packages, and others.
The entire dev.mit.edu AFS cell will be unavailable during this
time, so users with Athena workstations in the alpha or beta clusters
will be especially affected by this outage.
Please see /mit/info/shutdown-10132001 for full list of affected
services.
The effects of this outage are sufficiently broad that you may
wish to avoid logging in until after 9 AM on Saturday.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The
electrical work that is causing this outage must be completed, and we
will make every effort to have the shutdown be as short as possible.
