At approximately 11:30 AM today, an NSTAR operated main power
transformer at Putnam Station failed and is not currently supplying
electrical power to the North Cambridge area. NSTAR estimates that
it may take four to eight hours to correct the situation.
The MIT buildings affected by the power outage include: W11, W59,
W89, W92, NW10 NW14, NW17, NW20, NW22, NW61, NW62, N42, N51, N52, N57.
Further information on the power outage may be obtained by calling
the Department of Facilities' emergency number, ext. 3-1300.
