Problems Accessing Athena Email and Lockers

Hi:
I have an athenized Dell workstation - nesthorn.mit.edu - in chemical engineering.
My machine was working smoothly on Friday night.
This morning, the new athena (9.0) operating system automatically loaded, along with the gnome interface (I just logged on as usual, did nothing else).
I have not been able to access anything on the athena afs file system since then. This means I cannot read my mail (sent to athena.mit.edu/p/l/plochan/Mail) from my workstation, or access any locker such as acro gnu etc. In fact when i type df at my prompt, the afs/ does not show up in the list.
It is highly inconvenient right now for me to work, so please help me asap.
