During the past two weeks callers have experienced intermittent delay
problems on packet switched calls supported on the 5ESS. Once the
problem could be isolated and duplicated it was suspected we may be
experiencing a 5ESS switching module software problem. The technical
support center has recommended we initialize two switching modules
(known to be experincing the problem) in an effort to clear the trouble.
For this reason, at 3:00AM tomorrow morning, SMs 8 and 19 will be
initialized to reload systems software. The initialization will take
approximately 5 minutes and stable calls (those that have a completed
talk path/not in a dialing or ringing state) should not be affected by
this process.
