A major steam to hot water conversion system that is underway in NW14
will affect NW12, NW13, NW14, and NW15. The heating supplied to
those buildings will come directly from the Institute's central
utility plant rather than from the old boilers as it does now. In
the interim, the heat to those buildings will be supplied from a
smaller unit than is normally used. The replacement of the heating
units was scheduled for the warmer weather months so it would not
inconvenience the community. It began last week and will continue
throughout the summer and should be completed by September.
Unfortunately, the below normal temperatures expected for this week
may result in cooler than normal buildings. Although we anticipate
that the buildings will be heated to a temperature of 65 degrees, we
wanted to make you aware so that may wear suitable clothing.
When completed, the hot water conversion plan will heat most of the
northwest campus. The work with the NW buildings is in conjunction
with the utility construction taking place in the railroad right of
way.
