Hello,
I have a private athena workstation, cave.mit.edu which is a sparc 5
running the latest athena release. It's saying it failed to
reactivate and to call or email the hardware hotline. I think that
it's the network tap that is at fault. I tried booting and it just
hung at the le0 cable problem /timeout error. I swapped it to a
working net tap, which let it finish booting... and bring up the
athena login screen. When I swapped back it hung up a bit and, after
a while it gave this failed to activate error.
Whom should I contact to inquire about the network tap seeming to have
deactivated itself? It's tap 1-090-131 #1 that no longer works,
although it did just yesterday. The machine is attached directly to
the port through a 50foot cat5 cable, a cable known to be good since
the machine rebooted fine when plugged into a known working port.
I'd appreciate any help you could offer / forwarding to the
appropriate people to get this issue resolved asap; the machine gets
used by a number of people in this shared office space.
Thanks,
-erik
