Dear Jim --
In discussing this shutdown further with Kurt Samuelson (the author) and the
electricians who investigated this --more information is gleaned from the
discussions. Apparently this will affect the entire building on a bus duct
basis. And you should be prepared to turn off your computers at 11 PM this
evening until 7 AM tomorrow morning (or earlier if you prefer. Does your
staff work during that time period?
The building will be down bus duct by bus duct between 11 PM and 7 AM
tomorrow morning. If this presents a problem please let me know at your
earliest convenience.
Thanks again for your time.
Andrea

AMP Shu tdown Request
Thanks, Andrea.
I got an e-mail from Kurt Samuelson on last Friday saying that there would
be shutdowns last Monday in N51/52. He did not mention that these would
only affect limited areas of the building so our computer users on the 3rd
floor were worried. I don't think that too many people here, including
myself, would know off hand which bus duct supplies power to which areas of
the building <gr> I would have no way of knowing that the shutdown would
affect the 1st floor only based on the announcement below so I really
appreciate your voicemail messages.
I already subscribe to the plant-notify and shutdowns e-mail lists, but
would you please add me to any other list for notifications affecting the
School of Architecture and Planning excluding the Media Lab?
Thanks again,
Jim
