possible problems with ORF?

I'm having a lot of difficulty logging in lately. It takes a long
time (3-4 minutes sometimes) to fetch individual files from my AFS
home directory. According to fs, my volume is on ORF. The long delay
occurs only the first time the file is being read, since the file is
then cached. Sometimes, I just get a
"filename: Connection time out"
then the cachemanager will automatically give this error every
subsequent time I try to read the file (until I do a "fs checkv").
Also, a "vos listvol orf e" takes forever (3 minutes) to list the
volumes on my partition.
Please look into this situation when time permits.
