It appears the machine autoupdated to the most recent Athena patch
release around 8 minutes before he spoke to you last night:

[zacheiss@sweet-transvestite] ~$ athinfo weepecket rc.conf | grep -i auto
AUTOUPDATE=true; export AUTOUPDATE # Automatically update?
[zacheiss@sweet-transvestite] ~$ athinfo weepecket version

Note the timestamps on the last 4 lines in the version file. This
would explain why sshing into the machine at that time failed.

The specific problem you're presumeably thinking is something that
isn't dependant on whether you're using Kerberos with SSH or not; it is
fixed in the sshd included with 8.4.20, which is what the machine is now
running.

If you're still having problems with the machine, let me know and
I'll look into them, but it seems everything is normal now.
