Again, we want to remind everyone about the importance of closing all doors
and windows. We ask that you please make sure all windows and doors are shut
securely before leaving. If you notice any door or window that is not
closed, please report the location to FIXIT (3-4948) using the Emergency
option on the voice mail tree.
Over the past week alone we have experienced two (2) casualty loss
freeze-ups resulting from either a door or window being left opened. The
more recent loss in Building E51 has forced Facilities to close the building
for a period of time while the cleanup and repairs are performed. It is
estimated that this work will most likely take 2-3 days. As you can see, the
damages can be very extensive and labor intense. And, with these extreme
cold temperatures it is important to be proactive, since closing a window or
door after it has been left open for a extended period will most likely be
too late.
As always, we appreciate your ongoing support.
