Three new sun ultra5's fail to allow user logins

Hello,
We just installed three new sun ultra5's in 66-008 today. I am unable to
login to these machines as a user. The error message is
Login Incomplete
Your home directory is unavailable. A temporary home ...
Continue Abort
If I go to continue then either it
a.) goes to athena with temporary home (about 5% of the time)
b.) gives second error message saying
Login Failed
Unable to get your passwd entry.
I think it would seem that the machines are unable to access the athena home
directory space of current users? I guess a new installation of athena OS
would solve the problem??
Please advise on further action I need to take.
