I was using this machine (11:30pm Saturday) and reading news when it
seemed the network connection died (i.e. zephyr could not reach the
servers, emacs-gnus could not reach NNTP, attach's would not work).
Console error message was "un0: ethernet is probably disconnected".
Tried jiggling and tightening all connectors to no avail.
Software reboot got as far as AFS cache files scan and then gave the
above error message. SIPB member agreed that power-down was the best
option, and we did at the ":" prompt after Ctrl-Alt-Pause again.
