The slw, gmotd, and lert server minos will be unavailable for
approximately 1 hour beginning at 1am on 10/4/2000 (late Wednesday
evening/early Thursday morning) due to a software upgrade.
During this time, lert messages and the Athena global message of
the day will be unavailable; however, the client programs for both of
these programs will not hang when run, and logins should be unaffected
by the outage. slw requests during this time will fall back to the
other slw server (dill.mit.edu), so this outage should have no user
visible impact.
We're currently scheduling an hour this work, but if all goes
well, it should be completed more quickly. As always, notices
regarding the status of the outage will be sent to the "consult"
instance.
