monitor problem in E51 cluster

The machine is a sun ultra 5 to the immediate left of the entrance to the E51
cluster. I logged in and while adjusting the monitor so that I could see it
better, the screen went dark
and I have been unable to get any sort of image on the monitor.
Also, I have been unable to log myself out of that machine (because I can't see
anything on the monitor).
