problems with ZIP drive

Dear Sir:
I met a problem with a ZIP drive on an athena SGI workstation.
Specifically the machine is m56-129-30.mit.edu. I insert a zip disk when
it is still loading the start up enviroment after I logged in. Then the
machine doesn't know there is a zip disk in the drive. I have attached
mtools. "eject /zip" is not helpful. Everything doesn't work out as
before. By the way the green light is not on as the one on a zip drive
attached to another computer. I don't know whether it is an operational
mistake or hardware out of order. Anyway, I want my disk back.
