Hi,
I have some construction work being done this summer, and it will
involve a significant amount of coordination with network services.
The project is the relocation of a computer server room into a
location that currently houses an Athena cluster. The complications
arise because I would like to keep the Athena cluster active as much
as possible during the construction.
The construction period is scheduled for June through August, and I
will need help before that to move the Athena cluster out of the way.
As I see it, the network operations will involve:
Activating existing drops prior to moving the Athena cluster to a
temporary location. (7 Sun Ultra 5 computers and one printer.)
Deactivating the old Athena drops and possibly pulling cable out of
the way of the construction.
Installing (or relocating) the cables for the new final location of
the Athena cluster.
Installing 22 new jacks for the new computer server room as part of
the construction.
Activating the new Athena drops and the computer room drops prior
to the move to final locations.
Deactivation of the temporary Athena drops.
Deactivation and possible removal of (most of) the 22 existing
jacks in the (soon to be old) computer room.
Who can I talk to about this project to coordinate the several small
to moderate jobs that will be required? I don't expect this to be a
full time job for anyone, but someone should be familiar with the
plans and able to coordinate the necessary work.
Thanks,
--Tom
