Hi all,
Earlier today (sometime in the a.m.) complaints rolled in about
excessive heat in the 1-115 electronic classroom. The issue was validated by
one of my co-workers during the day. P.P. was contacted, and Carl Hagge
responded with a phone call and spoke with me. I have also investigated the
situation and have found the area quite warm as well. I have placed a call to
P.P. and have teamed up with Tony Small & Richie Sargent (HVAC people). It
appears that one of the overhead ceiling units was not functioning. If my
memory serves me correctly, this was the unit that has flooded out the 1-115
facility a few times, and that this same issue has not been resolved over a
period of approx. 2 years. This being the busiest semester of the two, and
now approaching the spring Thesis, this issue now becomes a CRITICAL ISSUE.
I have contacted Jim Wallace on this issue, who was the only person
that was able to provide the area with a portable cooling unit sometime within
the last 2 year period. It now appears that somone may have dropped the ball
on this issue, because of the time that had past. Its also possible that
all has been quiet over the winter season because some outside air has been
brought in as cooling. Now, we have encountered a few warm days in the 60's,
which has now made this issue surface again. On this note, I have contacted
Jim Wallace once again, who promptly got back to me within minutes. Jim
requested that I call the Operations center and have Steve Miscowski paged.
Steve has also promptly returned the call in minutes. Its possible that the
contractors that were working this issue have not completed their mission.
Steve will be on top of this issue and follow this issue through. In
the meantime, and if necessary, I have requested that the portable cooling unit
be brought back, and put into place, until proper cooling can be established.
I again want to thank Jim Wallace & Steve Miscowski for their quick
response, and hopefully a quick resolution to this 2 year old caper. This issue
needs to be put bed, and we need to move forward.
Thanks,

P.S.
Please note that Tony Small & Ron Beaulieu have been very instrumental on
this particular caper from the get go. I have been present/onsite with these
two very experienced HVAC people, and know for a fact that the appropriate
info. & recommendations pertaining to this issue have been past on, again to
the appropriate people. Both Tony & Ron have corrected many mistakes found
onsite in this 1-115 facility. I consider them very gifted/talented people in
their field.
