Good Day Everyone,
I am sending this message to clarify some information that was in the March
14th e-mail (please see below) regarding the plaza demolition and repair
plans.
There appears to be a misunderstanding regarding the person making the
decisions on the start date of this project. I apologize for any confusion
and hope this e-mail will answer any questions.
The Dean of the Sloan School was not the person who initiated the start
date. After some discussion with the Dean, it was decided to move the date
to accommodate a visiting committee and other activities scheduled for later
in the spring. Since the start date had already been moved up from early
April to take advantage of Spring Break and to expedite the work, I felt a
few days delay would not be a problem. The goal is to get the work done as
quickly as possible with the least amount of disruption.
I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. However, given the
continuing deterioration of the plaza and the stairs, it was essential that
we begin this project as soon as possible.

Dear Everyone:
I have been informed there are plans for demolition work on the E52 Plaza
Deck beginning perhaps tomorrow morning (Wednesday, 3/15) at 7 AM. The
start of this work will depend on the Dean of the Sloan School's approval to
begin either tomorrow or this coming Friday, 3/17 and Saturday, 3/18.
Ultimately a new plaza deck will be built. It is anticipated this project
will take approximately six weeks or less to complete.
