Actually, delos hasn't taken an update since July 27, so it seems
unlikely that hte release is at fault, unless the problem has existed
for quite some time. It looks like delos doesn't have system packs
attached, or can't access them for some reason. You might try
detaching and reattaching the packs as root:
detach -a
attach -O athena-sun4sys-83
and see if that prints an error or succeeds or what. another thing to
check is to see whether you can ls /afs/athena.mit.edu or whether
there are AFS problems. Of course, given the error message it may be
that the software is corrupt on the machine.
