This machine crashed around 6pm today and when I tried to login it got
some error with aklog, so I logged in as root and looked around. None
of the AFS daemons were running so I typed /etc/afsd. It complained
about a bad or missing file in /usr/vice/etc. I looked there and
discovered that the CellServDB.public had been badly corrupted with
some Latex code. I replaced the file from another machine and
retried. The daemons started up again fine, but aklog still wouldn't
work. I checked and /bin/athena/aklog had been zero-length'ed. I
replaced this from /afs/athena/service/@sys/aklog. Now things work
okay for me, but I would suspect that there could be other missing or
corrupted files and that it would probably be wise to reinstall this
machine.
