Please contact Steve McDonald to schedule this move. They may not
yet have a dedicated UTP drop in the new location, and I've
advised them to start that procedure immediately.

Hi, Naomi.
My guess is at least some of this is yours; lemme know if you want me
to liaise anything with Marine or other folks?

Subject: departure, part 2
Dear Faculty Liaisons,
(part 2 of 2) My last "loose end" is the ACS-granted workstation and
external disk, granted me a year ago to support work in the optical
astronomy subjects. Continuation of the tasks and duties I carried
out using this equipment are now going to be split between Prof. Jim
Elliot and Prof. Rick Binzel.
The three of us have discussed how to proceed, and it looks like the
best way to meet the needs of the subjects will be to ultimately
redeploy the workstation with Rick Binzel and the external hard disk
with Jim Elliot. But we've agreed that for the short term, preparing
for the needs of Jim's fall-term subject 12.410 has highest-priority,
and so I wish to request reassignment of both the workstation and
external hard disk with Jim Elliot for now.
I'd like to request that effective immediately, the contact information
for the workstation WARNER-TOWER.MIT.EDU be changed as follows:
technical contact: Steve McDonald, 54-425, x3-7354, mcdonald@mit.edu
faculty contacts: Prof. Jim Elliot, 54-422, x3-6308, jle@mit.edu
Prof. Rick Binzel, 54-426, x3-6486, rpb@mit.edu
This workstation is presently in 54-326 and is secured with an
AnchorPad by Information Systems. Steve McDonald has been given an
envelope with the documentation for the external disk and interface
card, and also the root password for WARNER-TOWER. Once he and Jim
have worked out the details of how to proceed, he should be in contact
with you with a request to redeploy the workstation and external disk
in either 54-419 or 54-425. In anticipation of his request, would you
send him the site-preparation information he'll need? I recall in
particular that the Ultra requires a dedicated UTP drop.
So now I'm out of this loop too, kind of feels like I'm writing
a will... Thank you for all your help!
