problem with workstation

We have a private Athena workstation called Pizarro. It is an
Ultra Sparc 1. I was trying to make it an nfs server by
using the command "mkserv nfs". Now when I type "mkserv"
it says "You are in the middle of an update..". Also
when I boot up it also says that I'm in a middle
of an update and that I should contact you. Another
problem is that we can no longer telnet into the machine.
What I can I do to fix it?
