In the wake of the recent crash of the fileserver epimetheus.mit.edu,
there needs to be some preventative maintenance of the server. It
will go down Friday morning (i.e. the evening of tonight, 7/22/99) at
2:00 am. The outage is scheduled to last up to two hours, although if
all goes well it could be concluded in as little as one hour.
During the outage, all data on epimetheus will be unavailable. To
determine if a locker or homedirectory is stored on epimetheus, type
at the Athena prompt:
add consult
lookup lockername
(where "lockername" is the name of the locker or user in question.)
As always, status updates for the outage will go to the zephyr
"consult" instance.
We Apologize for the Inconvenience.
