The athena.mit.edu AFS database server chimera.mit.edu will go down
for software updates the morning of Friday 7/23/1999, at 1:00 am
(i.e. Thursday night). It may be down for up to two hours, although
if all goes well, it could be back in as little as thirty minutes.
All data on chimera is replicated. While users may experience
temporary hangs or see console messages to the effect of "afs: Lost
contact with volume location server 18.159.0.34 in cell
athena.mit.edu", no data should be unavailable during the outage.
As always, status messages regarding the outage will go to the zephyr
instance "consult".
