workstation trouble

Hi,
I work with a computer registered to Professor Robert M Rose of DMSE (Course 3). Our computer has a linux partition so we made it into an athena workstation. However when I tried to log on today it said 'log-in failed'. It is also impossible to telnet. When I tried to reboot the computer to linux, it said that it cant access the port 18.53.1.54, and it got stuck rebooting. The computer is now off. I don't know if I am contacting the right people for this problem, but I would appreciate any help you could provide. Please reply to naromero@mit.edu as well as the above address.
