Dear Colleagues,
Since there's no Tech Talk this week I'll use email to communicate some
news for all the gardening enthusiasts in the MIT community.

Please plan to participate in the third annual MIT Plant Swap on Friday,
June 11 from 11:30 am-1:30 pm under the trees by the Chapel.

The swap brings together MIT community members with a common interest in
gardening and allows them to share extra plants, garden supplies, and
advice with one another. Participants can bring perennial plants that have
spread or need to be divided, extra annuals (including vegetables) that
don't fit in your gardens, houseplants, or excess garden tools or
decorative pots.

The swap is a great way to get some new plants without spending any money.
Participants receive "chits" in exchange for what they bring to the swap,
and then use their chits for plants or supplies that others have
contributed. (Sorry, but no chits for empty plastic pots.)

An added benefit of the swap is the participation of some of MIT's own
gardening experts from Grounds Services in Facilities and from Endicott
House. They are on hand to answer questions and give advice.

You can drop off plants and pick up your "chits" starting at 8:30 am on
June 11, but the swapping won't begin until 11:30 am. Plants that are left
over at the end of the swap will be given away.

The names of community members who have participated before are already in
an MIT gardeners email list. Others who would like to be added to the list
(or people who have questions about the event) should send email to
<jsnover@mit.edu> or call x8-5993.
Thanks,
Janet
