y2k and private Athena

We have a private Athena workstation (SGI) with
Athena release 8.2. Since this means it is based on
IRIX 6.3, the OS is not y2k compliant.
Can we upgrade to IRIX 6.5 (is compliant) /
apply the y2k patches for 6.3 from SGI or is that
done automatically with a new Athena version?
