A simpler, faster, less-work-involved test would have been to
simply disconnect barker-6-2 and try pinging it's address from
another machine.

Your test results are confusing at this point and I don't know
what to make of them.  It almost sounds like barker-6-2 just
has a bad drop but not quite.

The best thing would be to put barker-6-10 back on it's own
address and leave barker-6-2 disconnected so we can see whether
it's the case that someone else is using it's address.
